Al-Amal College Pharmacy Students Conduct Scientific Visit to Marjan Hospital in Babylon
As part of its commitment to enhancing practical learning and preparing students for the job market, the Student Activities Division at Al-Amal College for Specialized Medical Sciences organized a scientific visit for pharmacy students to Marjan Teaching Hospital in Babylon Province. The visit was carried out under the guidance of the college’s dean, Professor Emeritus Dr. Mofeed Jaleel Awad.
The visit included a field tour of the hospital’s pharmacy department, where students learned about the procedures for receiving prescriptions, preparing medications, and dispensing them to patients. They also explored the latest equipment and technologies used in hospital pharmacies and medical laboratories. Additionally, the students visited the hospital’s drug storage facilities, gaining insight into proper storage practices to ensure the safety and effectiveness of pharmaceuticals.
During the visit, students engaged in direct discussions with the medical staff and hospital pharmacists, allowing for valuable knowledge exchange and real-world insights into clinical pharmacy operations. They were also introduced to a variety of medications used in the hospital, along with storage and dispensing procedures in accordance with health standards.
Students expressed their appreciation for the educational value of the visit, noting how it helped reinforce their understanding of field practices and exposed them to the latest technologies in pharmaceutical care—effectively bridging the gap between theoretical study and real-world application.
At the conclusion of the visit, organizers recommended repeating such scientific field trips in the future and expanding them to cover additional hospital departments, such as emergency units and outpatient clinics. They also stressed the importance of pre-visit preparation to maximize the educational benefit of these experiences.
